Job Summary: The Research Technician will provide effective technical support for the East Africa Dairy Development project.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Provide technical backstopping (including survey design, implementation, data cleaning and analysis) in the implementation of surveys and other data collection exercises in the EADD sites, as per the EADD Monitoring, Learning and Evaluation (MLE) framework;
  • Analyse MLE data and present the results to EADD consortium partners and other stakeholders;
  • Act as the ILRI focal contact person in the EADD country office.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate should hold a bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics or related field.
  • At least five years' experience including experience working with producer organisation and/or other value chain actors in a RinD projects.
  • Good knowledge of the livestock sector - particularly dairy- in Uganda.
  • Experience with statistical packages such as SPSS, Stata or R. Excellent data management and analysis skills.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite packages, as well as ability to develop databases and prepare required documentation from them.
  • Fluency in oral and written English, and ability to communicate in Luganda.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, which will be key to facilitate stakeholder workshops and training programs for all actors of the value chain, as well as to participate and contribute effectively in a multicultural, multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent analytical and synthesizing skills; ability to write dear and concise scientific documents.
  • Highly effective multi-tasking skills, with ability to coordinate, prioritize, and organize workload, meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Considerable judgment and initiative and the ability to work with a high degree of independence within assigned areas.
  • Willingness to travel frequently.
  • Motor cycle/light vehicles driving permit.
  • Possession of MSc in Agricultural Economics or related field will be highly advantageous

About MAAIF:
The Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries received funding from the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) to implement the Jeddah Declaration initiative (2008) through Enhancing National Food Security through Increased Rice Production (ENRP) project. The project is to provide short term assistance to the Government of Uganda to withstand global food market and climate shocks as well as medium to long term support to build and strengthen the institutional and technical capacities, for sustained agricultural growth that contributes to poverty alleviation and food security.
Job SummaryThe Monitoring and Evaluation Officer will be responsible for the development and implementation of a comprehensive monitoring and evaluation system for the project, including capacity development and establishment of an effective Management Information System.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Developing an M&E system for the Project and coordinate the development of the project's M&E guidelines
  • Developing monitoring and evaluation guidelines for the project, for use by staff at different levels of implementation of the project.
  • Coordinating data and information collection on project implementation and undertake analysis.
  • Preparing M&E reports to the Coordinator for decision making and improvement of implementation of the project.
  • Contributing to the preparation of the Project Implementation and Financial Manuals.
  • Preparing and disseminating the project's periodic progress reports in consultation with the Project Coordinator.
  • Organizing and facilitating the Annual Review Workshops, Annual Work-plan and budget (AWPB) Workshops, supervision missions and other technical backstopping missions in consultation with the Project Coordinator.
  • Coordinating, supervising and providing technical backstopping for surveys, studies and project assessments.
  • Perform any other duty (related to the project's activities) as may be assigned by the Project Coordinator.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate must be a Ugandan citizen holding a honors Bachelor's degree in Agriculture or related field, a Masters degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Economics, Development Studies. Business Administration or equivalent field plus a post graduate diploma/certificate in MIS or M&E will be an advantage.
  • At least six (6) years' experience of working in the field of M&E and good knowledge of participatory M&E approaches and techniques and development of performance based indicators.
Age: 30 - 35 years

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

1. General:

Some of the key duties include keeping the Project Management Unit and staff abreast of the status of the project finances. The F&M Manager also  supports the development of project budgets, managing the project budgets, ensuring frugality, budget control and value for money. The jobholder also supervises the accountant and all other administrative staff.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate should hold a bachelor’s degree  in Commerce from a recognized University
  • Additional full professional qualification ACCA or CPA
  • At least five years’ working on EDF funded project with clear understanding of the Practical guide procedures
  • Preferably, the ideal candidate should have five years’ experience in a management and / or administrative position in an EU funded project is essential

Uganda Christian University was founded when the historic Bishop Tucker Theological College was promoted as a university in 1997. Bishop Tucker Theological College trained clergy and educators during its 84-year history from 1913-1997. The local chief, Hamu Mukasa, granted land for the college to operate in Mukono. International partnerships were part of the College’s missionary history. The Church Mission Society teamed with Ugandan leaders and others to assure the College had the necessary intellectual and other capital. By the late 1990s, the Church of Uganda sought to have a broader impact on society through the higher education - not only of clergy but of other professionals as well. Uganda Christian University was established in 1997.
In 2004, the Government of Uganda granted a charter to Uganda Christian University – the highest level of national accreditation. UCU was the first private University to receive such a charter from the Government.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for Class preparation, teaching and evaluation of students in accordance with the University Curriculum.
  • Overseeing students’ placements, internships and research papers.
  • Ad-hoc administrative tasks including but not limited to participating in various student activities e.g. attending Faculty Board Meetings.
  • Setting and marking Course Works and Final Examinations.
  • Assisting supervision of exams to ensure that exams are done according to rules and regulations.
  • Advising students on academic and other related issues Campus.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The Lecturer must hold a PHD degree preferably in relevant field (Public Administration & Management, Development Studies, Social Work & Social Administration, Counseling) from a recognized University.

  • A minimum of two (2) Seminar papers or has two (2) publications in referred journals.
  • At least three years’ university teaching experience as an Assistant Lecturer

  • The prospective Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) should hold a University degree, preferably in Agriculture, Rural Development, Economics or Social Sciences.
  • At least a year to two years’ professional experience in socioeconomic, agricultural and livelihood statistical data collection, processing and interpretation.
  • Excellent command of  both spoken and written English
  • Possess the ability to communicate in the most common local languages.
  • Significant knowledge on project cycle management, monitoring and evaluation;
  • In-depth knowledge and experience in designing, conducting or participating in project monitoring processes;
  • Broad range of skills in collecting, managing and analyzing data from rural socio-economic, food security and livelihood studies;
