Job: Legal Officer (1 Position)

Department: Company Secretariate
Reports To: Manager, Legal Services
Job Purpose
To support the Manager, Legal Services to manage legal affairs
of the Company and adequately defend the Organization and
maintain a vibrant legal/secretarial image.
Responsibilities
Key Performance areas
1. Provide legal advice relating to civil dispute and criminal
cases, locate, interview and guide witnesses
2. Conduct legal research for preparation of court cases in
which the Organization has an interest
3. Provide necessary information to external lawyers for
proper conduct and management of court case in which
the Company has interest, attend court sessions an assist
in trials
4. Represent the Company in courts of law and tribunals
5. Represent the Company in any labor disputes in line
with the Human Resource guidelines and policies for the
Company
6. Prepare legal documents on instruction of the supervisor
7. Interpret legal documents and enlighten staff on relative
legal affairs
8. Prepare and submit weekly, monthly and quarterly reports
to the Supervisor
9. Attend meetings of all relevant Management committees in
the absence of the Legal Services
10. Attend to correspondences as assigned
11. Any other task as assigned from time to time

Requirement:

Key performance indicators 1. Concluding outstanding court cases 2. Submit reports on milestones registered 3. Legal compliance throughout the Company Required Qualifications and Competences 1. Honours’ Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Degree 2. Diploma in Legal practice 3. Enrolled advocate of the High Court 4. Two (2) years’ relevant working experience 5. Good communication, organization and public relations skills 6. Good knowledge of basic computer applications 7. Demonstrable proficiency in Legal research
