About MUCODABI:
Multi Community Based Development Initiative (MUCOBADI) is a local NGO
founded in 2000 by Community Development Volunteers and currently working in
Bugiri, Mayuge, Buikwe, Butaleja and Abim Districts. Our current programming
focuses on Health, Human rights and Social Accountability, Livelihoods and
Water, Hygiene and Sanitation. We are an independent, non-political,
non-religious and Non-Governmental Organisation registered with the Uganda
National NGO Board (Reg No: S.5914/7569)
About ACT Health Programme:
In partnership with GOAL Uganda, MUCOBADI will implement a 5- year
programme for Health Sector Accountability (ACT-Health) in 3 Districts of
Kitgum, Pader and Lamwo.
Job Summary: The Branch Accountant will be primarily responsible
for the documentation, logistics, budget/work plans implementation and
reporting. Will oversee financial management and financial facilitation of
programme activities
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review accounting transactions and source documents
- Verify all expenses and ensure receipts are allocated to correct cost center accounts
- Review Cash Operation balances, make recommendations to management and pay out cash
- Prepare documents of original entry like Cash Disbursement, Journals and Deposit Vouchers
- Serve as a bank agent and handle issues like cash withdrawals, deposits and bank statement and ascertain cash and bank balances
- Keep regular books of accounts and ensure timely posting of transactions
- Prepare Monthly Bank reconciliations
- Process and effect payments in line with MUCOBADI & GOAL Financial guidelines
- Maintain a record of all financial transactions (Bank statements, reconciliations and cash records)
- Make monthly financial reports with strict adherence to reporting deadlines.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The Branch Accountant should ideally possess a University degree with a major in Accounting/Finance and professional qualification in ACCA/
- CPA of at least stage 2 will be an added advantage.
- Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Internal Control Procedures
- At least three years’ experience in donor funded projects.
- Written and Oral Communication skills, good team builder and high level of integrity.
- Good computer skills and knowledge of accounting systems and Microsoft Excel
