Job: Finance Manager

Location: Kampala

Saferworld is an independent non-governmental organisation that works with civil society, governments and international organisations to prevent and reduce violent conflict and promote cooperative approaches to security. Saferworld has been working in Africa since 1997, with a primary focus upon East Africa and the Horn region. We have long-running and well-established programmes in a number of countries including Kenya, Uganda, Somalia and South Sudan and also support regional and international conflict prevention and security-building processes. The Finance Manager post currently being recruited for is to manage the $3-4m per year of annual programming undertaken from our regional hub office in Kampala, Uganda

The Finance Manager leads on all aspects of financial management, system development and line management of financial staff for the Kampala office, as well as providing support and capacity building to staff within Saferworld and key partner organisations. The position Is based In Kampala and may require occasional travel within East Africa or to the Headquarters in London.

The successful candidate will have:

• a basic degree In a relevant subject and a recognised accounting qualification (CIMA, ACCA, etc)

• a minimum of five years experience In an INGO setting

• experience of managing a variety of different funds, such as EU, UN, USAID and bilateral donors

• proven ability to develop new financial control systems internally and to assist partners to do the same
