Purpose of Office:
The role of the Security Officer is to ensure the security and safety of staff, visitors and the property of the university. This will be delivered through working hand in hand with the security company providing security guards.
Person Specification
• The applicant should be a holder of any undergraduate degree
• Five years experience in security matters
• Should have served police or prisons
• Computer literate
• Legal knowledge desirable
• Work with minimal oversight
• Able to communicate intensively verbally and in writing.
• Appreciation and respect for confidentiality of personal information
Accountability Profile
• Ensure that the security company providing the security services perform their duties in accordance with the contract of service.
• Ensure records of attendance of security guards are maintained
• Liaise very closely with the in-charge of the private security company to share security concerns by the university, the company and other stake holders in particular, staff, parents, students and the community.
• Report cases to police and follow them to the last conclusion, including testifying in Courts of Law where necessary.
• Ensure good working relations between the service providers and the university authority, students and staff
• Identify and report security risks and potential threats and advise management on the best ways to protect staff and equipment of the university.
• Provide excellent customer care
