Job Title: Records Officer

Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda
Reports to: Human Resources Manager

About UNBS: 
Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) is a statutory body under the Ministry of Trade Industry and Cooperatives mandated to coordinate the elaboration of standards and quality of products and services so as to facilitate fair trade, promote local industries and protect consumers.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Designing a records classification scheme based on UNBS business activities.
  • Oversee mail management and internal distribution of mails.
  • Offer technical support to directorates, departments and sections on matters related to management of records they keep within their offices.
  • Design an appropriate records tracking system within the organization.
  • Work closely with the IT department to advance the computerization of records management in the organization.
  • Provide expertise and guidance to records users at all levels and Cooperate with them on the records they create; and satisfy all enquiries from them.
  • Establish and manage the archive and ensure that permanent, historically valuable records are appropriately accessed.
  • Supervise all records related activities at UNBS Headquarter and all upcountry offices.
  • Receive, register and route the incoming mails.
  • File all correspondences that may need future attention and storing them.
  • Producing files as and when they are required.
  • Conduct any other official duties assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant should hold a bachelor’s degree in Library and Information science preferably  majoring in Records management
  • Possession of an additional diploma in Records Management or the equivalent from a recognized institution will be an added advantage.
  • A minimum of two years’ relevant working experience
  • Be proficient in records management and communication skills
  • Computer literacy skills
  • High degree of integrity and honesty.
Age: Not more than 35 years
