Actis is a leading investor in the emerging markets, managing over US$4.8bn worth of investment on behalf of more than 100 institutional investors, including the Commonwealth Development Corporation (CDC), a UK Government owned company.
Job Summary: The Industrial Relations Manager will take lead of Umeme's Industrial Relations initiatives to maintain high employee satisfaction and engagement.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform negotiations on rates of pay and conditions of employment for and on behalf of Umeme.
  • Represent Umeme before workplace relations tribunals on matters such as agreements, disputes and termination of employment.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Partner with Integrity department as needed/ required.
  • Oversee the implementation and application of disciplinary and grievance procedures and policies.
  • Maintain and update all labour related policies and procedures, ensuring the enforcement and adherence of these policies and procedures by advising and monitoring management and staff.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The ideal candidate for the aforementioned UMEME opportunity should demonstrate depth and breadth of knowledge, skills, and experience in industrial relation and legislation.
  • Possess excellent analytical skills;
  • Exhibit strong presence, verbal and written presentation skills
  • Ability to interact with multiple stakeholders.
  • The possession of a Human Resource Degree or related discipline will be highly desired.
