Job Summary: The Industrial Relations Manager will take lead of Umeme's Industrial Relations initiatives to maintain high employee satisfaction and engagement.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform negotiations on rates of pay and conditions of employment for and on behalf of Umeme.
  • Represent Umeme before workplace relations tribunals on matters such as agreements, disputes and termination of employment.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Partner with Integrity department as needed/ required.
  • Oversee the implementation and application of disciplinary and grievance procedures and policies.
  • Maintain and update all labour related policies and procedures, ensuring the enforcement and adherence of these policies and procedures by advising and monitoring management and staff.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The ideal candidate for the aforementioned UMEME opportunity should demonstrate depth and breadth of knowledge, skills, and experience in industrial relation and legislation.
  • Possess excellent analytical skills;
  • Exhibit strong presence, verbal and written presentation skills
  • Ability to interact with multiple stakeholders.
  • The possession of a Human Resource Degree or related discipline will be highly desired.

  • Ensuring maintenance of voltage, frequency and power factor standards
  • Responding promptly to all alerts and alarms
  • Managing system interaction with UETCL in accordance with protocols and agreements
  • Managing Planned, Unplanned and Emergency outages in accordance with company outage protocols
  • Delivering up to the minute forecasts for short/ medium and long term supply/demand
  • Ensuring that entire team of Engineers and Technicians are operating in a safe and reliable way and that they are equipped to do so
  • Ensuring that control infrastructure is operating at maximum availability and reliability
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Delivering all programmes throughout the country through local management and teams

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The candidate should possess a degree in Electrical Engineering with 7 (seven) years experience in the Metering Management Arena
    Additional post graduate qualification ideally in Engineering or in Management
  • Significant experience in a Utility environment , recent significant management experience
  • Strong analytical, technical and financial skills
  • Strong communications and presentation skills

  • Developing specific investment projects to improve asset performance, reduce technical losses including scope, cost, benefits, alternatives, risks, and justification
  • Systematic Emergency preparedness planning
  • Management of specific unplanned outages in accordance with Outage protocols
  • Contribute to the development of Umeme business strategy development

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The candidate should possess a degree in Electrical Engineering with 7 (seven) years experience in Electrical engineering management
  • Post graduate qualification ideally in Engineering or in Management
  • Strong analytical, technical and financial skills
