Key Duties and Responsibilities:

About MRC/UVRI:
The MRC/UVRI Uganda Virus Research Unit on AIDS was established following a request in 1988 from the Uganda Government to the British Government for collaboration on the research of HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) infection and AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency. The Unit is a center of excellence in HIV/AIDS related research. It conducts large-scale epidemiological and intervention studies, clinical trials, virological and immunological research and behavioral studies, clinical trials, virological and immunological research and behavioral studies, and has generated a wealth of research results that have been used to inform policy and practice, and that have led to a large number of scientific publications in peer reviewed journals over time. The Unit is based at Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI) in Entebbe. MRC/UVRI is seeking keen, experienced and suitably qualified Ugandans to join a team of dedicated clinical and research staff working on the IPM 027 trial “A multicentre, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled safety and efficacy trial of a dapivirine vaginal matrix ring in healthy HIV-negative women”.

Job Summary: The Administrative Assistant/Receptionist will offer an efficient and effective management of reception and administrative duties to support the trial.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Receive and channel participants to appropriate staff at the study site.
  • Review participants’ appointment cards and crosschecks with the appointment list, where indicated.
  • Ensure that participants are served refreshment by the Office attendants or designee while they are at the clinic.
  • Ensure a friendly and comfortable environment in the reception area.
  • Take care of the needs of the potential participants when they are ready to leave the clinic, for example arranging follow-up appointments and arranging for the potential participant to get reimbursement.
  • Perform secretarial service for the team including taking minutes for meetings, preparing presentation slides or letters where necessary, and format large reports.
  • Responsible for the front desk, and management of the participant tracking database.
  • Responsible for all incoming and outgoing mails and distribution to respective owners while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Manage documentation and filing systems.
  • Occasional bulk photocopying and distribution.
  • Manage imprest and participant reimbursement

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
  • The applicant should hold a Diploma in Business Administration, Social sciences, public Administration. A Degree in Secretarial studies is desirable.
  • At least three years’ experience in a similar role in an international Organisation or research based organisation.
  • Proficiency in computer use (MS word, Excel, Access),
  • Sound knowledge of procurement is desirable.

Duties:
• Perform controls of the working of the electrical equipment’s and machines and of the related control boards and perform their maintenance, with particular care to control the voltage of the alternators and of the exciters of the auxiliary units;
• Control the manifolds and the brushes of the motors and generators;
• Control the working of service electric motors;
• perform maintenance of the remote control switches of the control board, by performing disassembly, control, cleaning and lubrication of the components and the regulation of the pressure on the contacts: control air conditioning and refrigeration systems, control and replace or adjust the contacts of thermal expansion valves or of relays or switches;
• Repair circuits, electrical devices or electrical machines and the relevant control boards installed on the rig;
• Assist, coordinate and monitor the operators during rig transfer operations, supervising in particular the disassembly, loading, unloading and assembly of the electrical devices and equipment;
• Keep the stocks of spare parts and expendable materials, checking the level of the stocks and reporting the needs for re-supply considering also the forecasted consumption and provisioning time; provide the Tool Pusher with the results of the use of particular materials or spares and consults the schemes and sketches related to circuits, to electrical equipment and to electrical devices and their control boards and switchboards;
• Comply with requirements of safety standards and regulations and take part in the emergency exercises and safety meetings.
Job Requirements/Qualifications:
• High school diploma in Electrical
• Minimum 5 years of experience in the oil and gas industry
• Knowledge of SCR rig control and traditional electrical systems
• 2 years' experience in SCR control systems preferred.
• Experience in top-drive maintenance
• Experience in AC Controls is preferred
• Industrial Electric certificate
• Knowledge Lock Out Tag Out Systems
• Strong Computer experience
• Certificates in first aid,
• Language: English and Polish
• Safety Training Courses and Medical Certificate
