Soft Power Mukagwa Allan Stone Community Health

About Soft Power Health
Soft Power Health was founded in 2004 by Dr. Jessie Stone. A member of the US Freestyle Kayak Team and a medical doctor, Jessie founded Soft Power Health to provide malaria education, prevention and control for the people of Uganda.
The Clinic
The Allan Stone Community Health Clinic in Kyabirwa, Uganda on the banks of the Nile River, opened its doors on January 19th, 2006 and has been growing ever since. Soft Power Health Doctors and Nurses give care to isolated communities throughout Uganda. Clinic Staff see upwards of 50 people a day and malaria is the number one disease we treat. We have seen the numbers increase steadily over the last few years, so that on busy days we see over 100 patients. In February 2011 we opened the Mother and Child Wellness Center to provide all methods of family planning, vaccinations and treatment of malnutrition. In addition, we often send patients that we cannot treat at our clinic, for further medical attention to clinics in Jinja and Kampala.
Outreach Programs
Malaria Education – Our malaria program offers education and prevention to rural Ugandan communities, helping people to help themselves reduce the incidence of malaria in their lives. This program provides basic education about malaria, the sale of subsidized mosquito nets, and follow-up visits to net buyers’ homes.
Family Planning - Our three family planning teams work in 40 villages. The teams consist of nurses and local educators and provide education on family planning and administration of family planning services in the field. The teams follow up in these same villages every three months. At our Mother and Child Wellness Center next to our primary health clinic, we also offer women all methods of birth control from permanent to short-term.
Malnutrition - Our malnutrition education and prevention program provides basic education to local communities about nutrition and malnutrition. The program goal is to help combat the underappreciated problem of malnutrition as a serious and life-threatening condition.
