About SPGS:
Sawlog Production Grant Scheme (SPGS) is a Government of Uganda Project funded by the European Union, Government of Norway and Government of Uganda. It is implemented by Ministry of Water and Environment (MWE).
The program supports private sector investors in commercial tree planting throughout Uganda by offering conditional planting and Maintenance grants as well as practical training and technical support in various techniques to establish and maintain profitable forest plantations. Since 2004, SPGS has supported over 40,000 hectares of plantations established primarily for timber production.
Job Summary: The Accounts Officer will support the Finance and Administration Manager in  administering and managing daily accounting and finance functions including the timely recording of transactions, cash management, banking, inventory, receivables and payables. The job demands rigorous and careful attention to routine systems and procedures and complete integrity at all times.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate should possess a bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Accounting) degree or equivalent from a recognized University
  • Possession of Part ACCA or CPA will be an advantage
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in an accounting position in an EU funded project is essential for this position
  • Proven experience in finance accounting with sound knowledge of financial principles will be an advantage.

About GOAL:
The GOAL Uganda country project focuses on two of GOAL'S strategic sectors, namely: Health (including WASH and health accountability) and Livelihoods and mainstreams HIV, gender, child protection and the environment across all programming. GOAL works on a district focused approach, and uses a mixture of direct implementation and partnerships with local organisations to give effect to the mission.
Job Summary: The GOAL Logistics Coordinator will manage the Logistics function in GOAL Uganda both at country and field office level by providing effective and timely logistics support to all programmes. They will ensure that all logistics tasks are carried out in compliance with the GOAL and donor requirements, build the capacity of and manage staff in the logistics department. They will also serve as the security focal point counterpart for GOAL Uganda and as a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The suitable candidate should also hold a relevant Master’s Degree in relevant subject;
  • Possession of Full or part completion of a professional and internationally accredited procurement, or logistics and supply chain management course (CIPS, CILTS, etc.) is required
  • Practical experience in areas such as repairing/maintaining vehicles, computer and communications systems setup an advantage;
  • Past experience in proposal development, budget preparation and planning, and report writing;
  • Prior experience of working in insecure environments
  • Three or more years’ experience in senior logistics management with an International NGO;
  • The applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Engineering, Business, or related field;
  • Good working knowledge of project management, vehicle management, communication systems,
  • , procurement, stock control and asset management systems;
  • Working knowledge of security management systems and approaches for NGO’s;
  • Extensive skills and experience in capacity building and the training of staff.
  • Proven experience in the development and implementation of systems;
  • Possess the ability and willingness to travel, including to insecure environments;
  • Excellent computer literacy skills in Microsoft packages, including Word, Excel, and Outlook;
  • Possess the ability to work under pressure to pursue multiple tasks simultaneously to successful conclusion;
  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills with an analytical approach to work;
  • Ability to take initiative and work long hours with minimal supervision;
  • At least a year’s experience on a Senior Management Team
  • Basic budgeting experience

Job Summary: The Finance & Administration Manager will provide oversight of the Finance and Administration Function. Some of the key duties include keeping the Project Management Unit and staff abreast of the status of the project finances. The F&M Manager also  supports the development of project budgets, managing the project budgets, ensuring frugality, budget control and value for money. The jobholder also supervises the accountant and all other administrative staff.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate should hold a bachelor’s degree  in Commerce from a recognized University
  • Additional full professional qualification ACCA or CPA
  • At least five years’ working on EDF funded project with clear understanding of the Practical guide procedures
  • Preferably, the ideal candidate should have five years’ experience in a management and / or administrative position in an EU funded project is essential
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Proactive, creative, able to innovate alternative solutions with original thought
  • Highly stress resilient – able to cope with deadlines and multi-task
  • Ability  to work as part of a team and as team leader
  • Highly well-organized and flexible with the ability to work independently and take on additional responsibilities when required
  • Excellent computer literacy skills: Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, databases, etc.
  • Reliable, self-motivated with ability to work in a team and form productive, supportive and professional relationships with all colleagues and stakeholders

Job Summary: The Senior Accountant will mainly ensure the proper management and utilization of funds allocated to or acquired by Uganda Electricity Generation Company Ltd (UEGCL).
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Actively coordinating the preparation of UEGCL budgets.
  • Verifying, validating  and approving financial transactions.
  • Offering technical support to management on matters regarding the budget, finances, financial management and accountability.
  • Ensuring the timely preparation of financial statements and reports.
  • Providing answers to any audit queries regarding financial transactions.
  • Managing and mentoring accounting operations and staff.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  
  • Prepare and review accounting transactions and source documents
  • Verify all expenses and ensure receipts are allocated to correct cost center accounts
  • Review Cash Operation balances, make recommendations to management and pay out cash
  • Prepare documents of original entry like Cash Disbursement, Journals and Deposit Vouchers
  • Serve as a bank agent and handle issues like cash withdrawals, deposits and bank statement and ascertain cash and bank balances
  • Keep regular books of accounts and ensure timely posting of transactions

  • Maintain a record of all financial transactions (Bank statements, reconciliations and cash records)
  • Make monthly financial reports with strict adherence to reporting deadlines.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:  
  • The Branch Accountant should ideally possess a University degree with a major in Accounting/Finance and professional qualification in ACCA/
  • CPA of at least stage 2 will be an added advantage.
  • Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Internal Control Procedures
  • At least three years’ experience in donor funded projects.
  • Written and Oral Communication skills, good team builder and high level of integrity.

Job Summary: The job holder will be responsible for the provision of prudent internal audit coverage to all elements of the company including its clients, for the management and coordination of all internal audits.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Ensure organisational compliance with internal audit policies and procedures.
  • Develop and monitor the implementation of comprehensive plans and tools for providing Internal Audit services to the company and its clients.
  • Review system changes prior to implementation to identify potential deficiencies.
  • Determines whether the organization’s network of risk management, control, and governance processes, as designed and represented by management and the Board, is adequate and functioning in a manner to ensure risks are appropriately identified and managed.
  • Assess effectiveness of the internal audit control systems and compliance with the policies.
  • Liaise with the head of Human Resource in witnessing hand over of key offices.
  • Report to Audit Committee of Board on Audit activities conducted.
  • Advise and update the Audit Committee of Board on the risk status of the Company.
  • Leadership and people development of the team in the department.
  • Effective internal audit control systems across the organisation.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Key Performance Indicators:

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
  • The applicant should possess an Honors degree with specialty in Accounting or Finance plus membership with any of the accountancy bodies recognized by the Accountants Act Cap 26
  • A Masters degree in Business Administration (Accounting option) or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • The CIA certification is essential while possession of the CFSA is an added advantage.
  • At least eight years’ Internal Auditing experience in the Financial Services Sector, of which 5 years must have been at senior management level;
  • Possession of computer skills and demonstrate an understanding of their relevance and applicability to the internal Audit function.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Self driven person with the highest level of responsibility.
  • Ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
Age: Between 35 -45 years.

Job Summary: The Account Manager will be responsible for the;
·         Overall management of accounts within your portfolio, assigned by the Area Head GSAM, East Africa. 
·         Ensure that for designated account, all risks are properly identified and assessed 
·         Ensure that designated accounts have action plans which are formulated and implemented so as to minimize risks, prevent losses, maximize recoveries and restore profits through rehabilitation, workout, direct recovery actions and legal processes. 
·         Improve early identification of problem debt, by development of a proper process environment encouraging open and up front reporting from Relationship Managers

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • The job holder will be responsible for the protection of the Standard Chartered Bank’s interests in, by taking appropriate restructuring or recovery actions (by means of direct representation and negotiation). 
  • The protection of the Standard Chartered Bank’s reputational interests. 
  • To assume responsibility for specific accounts within your designated portfolio. 
  • Evaluate the credit risk on applications within your portfolio as required and to recommend approval, decline or alternative appropriate courses of action. 
  • Responsibility for minimizing the Standard Chartered Bank’s risk arising from litigation, environmental claims, regulatory censure, or potential reputational loss regarding the impaired Accounts. 
  • Encourage the Standard Chartered Relationship Managers towards early reporting of potential problem debts. 
  • Keenly track and provide information to the Area Head, GSAM E. Africa on the cause of losses, encourage the development of improved Credit Skills. { i.e. : Operation loss, Monitoring and Control, Credit Risk Assessment } 
  • Ensure you remain alert to the risk of money laundering and assist in the Bank’ efforts in combating it by adhering to the key principles in relation to: identifying your customer, knowing your customer, reporting suspicions, safeguarding records and not disclosing suspicions to customers. 
Key Performance Indicators: 
·         The overall performance of the Standard Chartered Bank by minimizing losses, and reducing the Bank’s exposure together with the restructuring of the Portfolio through the exit of non-core accounts. 
·         Continual improvement of standards of risk management, a higher quality of lending, an enhanced return on assets, an overall reduction in the level of Impaired Accounts. 
·         Ensure you remain alert to the risk of money laundering and assist in the Bank’ efforts in combating it by adhering to the key principles in relation to: identifying your customer, knowing your customer, reporting suspicions, safeguarding records and not disclosing suspicions to customers.. 

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
  • The prospecetive Standard Charteredemployee should possess excellent negotiation skills to manage problem accounts in Uganda. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills coupled with professional integrity in order to command respect and credibility in situations involving conflicting interests.  (Internal and external). 
  • The candidate must have attained tertiary academic qualification and/or extensive practical know-how in accounting, finance and banking practice and theory. 
  • Exposure and experience in the banking industry, with sound knowledge of risks involved in lending, particularly corporate and SME lending. 
  • Practical and technical knowledge of laws relating to bankers’ rights, corporate finance, security documentation and realization, appropriate Corporate Law, receivership, bankruptcy and winding up. 
  • Stay abreast with the latest Economic knowledge and conditions. 
  • Ability to resolve conflicts, manage crises and solve problems, withstand pressure, work fast, set priorities and organize management time among numerous accounts needing urgent attention simultaneously, with initiative, creativity, resourcefulness, analytical ability, energy and determination to execute and win. 
  • Possess the ability to communicate well, both orally and in writing, and to conduct meetings (often in hostile/ confrontational circumstances and/or at very Senior Corporate/Bank levels) and focus on relevant issues.
    Possess an ability and willingness to exercise initiative, make decisions, exercise responsibility and accept accountability for actions taken and decisions made. 
  • Financial engineering dexterity with a comprehensive repertoire of strategic and tactical tools. Numerous accounts needing urgent attention simultaneously, with initiative, creativity, resourcefulness, analytical ability, energy and determination to execute and win..
